This jaguar lived with her brother at the Magnetic Hill Zoo in Moncton, New Brunswick. Social media “magic” allowed me to communicate with one of her keepers from that time, she confirmed that the cats had been moved to another zoo and that they were born in 1991! As per Wikipedia, their typical lifespan in the wild is around 12-15 years, in captivity they can live up to 23 years placing them amongst the longest-lived cats. It saddens me to think that this pair is no longer a part of our world but I feel privileged to have been able to witness a bit of their life. That chunk of meat was the "love of her life" and no one could get close… her brother was about 30feet from her… and it was too close!! We got quite a show until she settled down and started licking it. Maybe I will get to paint her descendants some day!
