Perseverance
Original acrylic painting on gallery canvas of a female snowy owl looking skyward. I painted this beautiful own plein air at a local rehabilitation and science center. Her posturing was ideal for her position in life - unable to fly again, but obviously the desire hadn't left her, as indicated by her heavenward viewing. Painting is unframed — Gallery wrapped canvas is 1.5” thick, perfect for hanging as is. Hanging hardware affixed to rear of canvas.
Now listed as vulnerable, with population numbers on the decline, snowy owls are threatened by climate change, car and plane collisions, as well as entanglement in fishing equipment. I have been fascinated by the snowy owl ever since a beautiful adult flew at and over my car hood when I was driving as a teen. The impact of the entire white wingspan flying directly at me with those glowing yellow eyes will never leave me.
