"Messy Stripes" originated from my fascination with fur patterns. The painting suggests that the stripes are a tactic to confuse, since predators could hardly catch sight of one individual in this furry mess. 
Nevertheless, it´s not yet clear why zebras have such a distinct fur pattern. So feel invited to venture a guess, while looking at the painting on your wall.
