Gannets on a rock field study
This was drawn in cramped conditions on a small boat of the cliffs of Bass Rock, Scotland. Unfortunately due to the swell we were unable to land, so we drifted for an hour around the cliffs. Each line had to be quick and instant. I love working this way, I love the expectancy of movement and change, it pushes me into another level of working. I am not so concerned with the detail and likeness of the bird or animal but with the atmosphere and feeling of the landscape. I am trying to get these feelings into my final work.
