Conservation

"We have a moral obligation to care for eachother and all the other species of animal, plants & birds, indeed all life on this planet.  Through art we can raise awareness, reminding people of the beauty and fragility of our sphere of influence.  It is a privilege to paint, especially when a species is recovering, but we need to do more to redress the poorer choices "Man" has made. "

Fortunate to work with Jim and Jamie Dutcher of Living with Wolves, using their reference material, I created a painting which was then auctioned online to raise awareness and funds for the plight of wolves - the work was sold to a collector in the Yukon.  I then painted two pieces for inclusion in the Project Orangutan in Darlinghurst to help support the orangutans.  My piece "Nebula" accepted in the AFC 2017 Annual Exhbition sold before it was displayed, and subsequently raised money for conservation; and now I have completed six pieces for inclusion in "Silent Skies" mural for the AFC/World Ornithological Congress collaborative in Vancouver 2018, in addition to painting specifically for application for the 2018 AFC Annual Exhbition to be held there.  The Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo is in dire straits in far north Queensland, and my framer there runs a not-for-profit Tree Roo Rescue organisatiion, for whom I will be painting a piece to create giclees to help raise funds and awareness of this most fragile of creatures.

An avid scuba diver I am passionate about the survival of our reefs, rainforests, forests and native pastures and regularly engage with parliamentarians to support awareness and engage protection for these diverse and endangered ecosystems.

Lastly we need to conserve our past, our memories, for those forge the people we are today - one of my pieces "The Gift" continues to raise funds for "Soldier On" an organistation dedicated to research and support of our military personnel suffering PTSD.
