I have researched written and illustrated 22 books on the history of costume published by BT Batsford, and one, hand calligraphied book on the history of a nature reserve.  I am also the author and illustrator of two museum guides and several books of essays.  I have demonstrated art materials nationwide for major art companies; given talks and conducted workshops in schools and colleges throughout the UK and have had numerous solo exhibitions of my watercolours, pastels and textiles.  I have taught art and literature at many different levels from primary school to adults at university. My books and images have been purchased and enjoyed by people around the world.

In 2018 eight of my botanical illustrations and my  nature reserve book were accepted by the New York Botanical Garden to be held in the archive for posterity as examples of modern botanical art.  They are currently being used for teaching and exhibitions.

I have also worked for many years as a healer in the field of energy medicine and I see individual creativity as an important aspect of health and wellbeing.  I trained extensively with the National Federation of Spiritual Healers and I am a Reiki Master as well as privately studying Essene philosophy and practice.

Support for Conservation:

Throughout my professional life I have worked with and for nature.  Although I have not been formally involved with conservation projects, I have always endeavored through my writing and teaching to make people aware of their intimate relationship with the natural world.  Every footprint we make is a connection with the earth: every breath we take is a gift from Nature.  We are an intrinsic part of a whole system and must tend to the earth if we are to survive as a  species.

I have taught this at all levels from primary school children to adults at university and tried to affect an awakening and awareness to the dangers now facing our world. This, I feel, is the purpose of my work.

Special Achievements:

Achievement means different things to different people.  I have always pursued my own idea of success rather than anyone else's, and have been fortunate to have done many different things in my life some of which have been hugely rewarding.  However for me personally, I see my greatest achievement as being privileged to work with people from all walks of life, and touch their hearts with my words and images: hopefully enriching their lives in some small way.
