They shut the way through the woods
These images are from a watercolor painting I created whilst researching, writing and illustrating a book on the history of a small nature reserve which exists like an oasis in an urban landscape. This particular view is of a disused road, centuries old which cuts across the landscape. It was easy to imagine the ghosts who reside there, mingling with today's visitors, tramping old ways, looking for unusual plants or enjoying the wildlife. This place is a welcoming haven for urban dwellers.
