Conservation

""Never before have we faced such a need To bring knowledge to action To connect hearts with minds To assure our survival." excerpt from Wildlife Conservation Society Manifesto.  With that in mind, it is imperitive that every one of us tries to communicate through any medium possible the urgency in helping the survival of our wildlife. "

I am currently painting a series of African Wild Dogs. As a pet portrait artist, dogs are very close to my heart and I find that these beautiful animals tend to get a bit of a bad rap! A percentage of the sales will go to Born Free who work tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect and are able to live their lives according to their needs.

They oppose the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaign to keep them where they belong - in the wild. They promote Compassionate Conservation to enhance the survival of threatened species in the wild and protect natural habitats while respecting the needs and safeguarding the welfare of individual animals. They seek to have a positive impact on animals in the wild and protect their ecosystems in perpetuity, for their own intrinsic value and for the critical roles they play within the natural world.

Also I am a very big supporter of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation and even though not lucky enough to be chosen yet, I have entered Artist Wildlife of the Year. Wildlife Artist of the Year was established by David Shepherd CBE FRSA (1931 – 2017) and embodies his vision for ‘The Art of Survival’ – using art for wildlife conservation.
