In 2014, I participated in “America's Parks II, Through the Beauty of Art” Show. When show winners were announced, I was astounded to find not only had all 3 pieces submitted for jurying (competing against an international group of artists) been accepted into the show, but also all pieces had received awards! "Beaded Lace" (Reticulated Gila Monster on Cholla Cactus skeleton), and "Desert Denizen" (Western Screech Owl in Saguaro Cactus) had each been awarded the show’s Honorable Mention awards, plus "Eyes On The Prize" (2 life-size Greater Roadrunners with Collared Lizard on Prickly Pear Cactus), took 2014 Top Sculpture Award!
“Beaded Lace” and "Eyes On The Prize" were originally commissions for Na Aina Kai Sculpture and Botanical Gardens on Kauai, Hawaii, part of their Native American Navajo Village exhibit. Such a prestigious show, honoring North America's parks (City Parks to National/ Provincial Parks throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico), was a great honor and amazing way to start the year!
“Beaded Lace” was also one of two sculptures purchased by the U.S. Port of Entry in Lordsburg, NM, through the New Mexico Art in Public Places program.
(5% of AFC sale to be donated to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum for environmental education.)
