The initial vision came to mind for this painting many years ago. Since the initial vision I had to the time I painted this piece I have had numerous experiences in nature and in life, enabling me to have many insights and learn from others who come from different walks of life than I do. What I have started to realize the past few years is that it really does take "all kinds of kinds" to enhance the world we live in. I have met people who are really passionate about their jobs, which may not necessarily be directly related to nature at all, and others whose work is immersed in it. I have also realized almost everyone enjoys nature in at least some fashion. Even those who live in large urban environments who spend little time in nature try to do the best they can to appreciate and protect our natural world in whatever way they can if they are environmentally conscious of their daily lives. It is when I really came to notice this that a lot of things came into focus for me and I realized that no matter where we live in the world, and no matter what we are passionate about, or what we do, if we all live a life style with at least some form of environmental awareness, together, we will always have beautiful places in nature to experience and learn from. The open sketch book at the bottom of the painting is an invitation to what your life will be and that no matter what you choose to do in life, if you live it with some level of environmental consciousness, the beautiful and magical places in nature such as seen in this painting can remain for generations to come. No matter where we live, what we do, we are all rolling the dice and taking chances so-to-speak to create a better life and world for ourselves and those around us, and I can only hope that in your sketchbook of life, it includes the natural world in some way.
