Kimberly Beck is a fine artist working from Chicago and her studio at Tryon Farm in Michigan City, Indiana.

A native of northern California, Kimberly Beck grew up in a rural community surrounded by the natural world. After earning her undergraduate degree in English Literature at The University of Michigan, she studied drawing and illustration at The California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, CA, and specialized in drawing birds and animals, working in watercolor and pencil. She began a career in illustration, creating art for posters, greeting cards, t-shirts and even umbrellas for The Nature Company and other print companies, selling her work nationally.

After a hiatus to raise a family, Kimberly began painting in oil and has developed a body of representational work that emphasizes her commitment to good design, direct observation, a sensitive palette with a passion for recording the natural world. She paints regularly from life at the Palette & Chisel Academy of Art in Chicago, and has recently begun painting figurative and floral subjects as well as the birds for which she is best known. She is a devoted bird-watcher and her paintings reflect personal experiences she has had interacting with birds in the field.

For five consecutive years, Kimberly’s avian-themed paintings have been juried into the prestigious international “Birds in Art” exhibit at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Museum of Art in Wausau, Wisconsin. Two of her paintings were chosen for the Museum’s National Tour and her work has also garnered awards in the Richeson 75 International Competitions. Her figurative work has hung in both National and Regional exhibits of the Oil Painters of America as well as The Laumeister Fine Art Competition in Bennington, Vermont. She is currently represented by Fine Line Designs in Door County, Wisconsin and Lake Forest Frame & Design in Lake Forest, Illinois.
