After The Monsoon
This male hooded oriole had taken up residence one summer in a large fan palm near my home. I enjoyed watching it flit here and there, usually spending time in this palm. After one particularly stormy monsoon it sat in the middle of this frond, quite drenched. The scale of the bird compared to the palm fronds intrigued me, and After The Monsoon was born. I chose colored pencil because I wanted to see how it would look on Arches watercolor paper.
