Loosening my brush work is part of an experiment with a minimalist approach to painting with watercolours. While letting the watercolours flow and deviating from my usual style I still focus on the eyes and the animal's character.
The result is a very artistic and intriguing portrait of a cheetah.
Just as many other species cheetahs are threatened by a severe loss of habitat. Just as lions they were formerly roaming in the Near East to south India but became extinct in those regions in the 1950s and are now loosing more and more of their African habitats as well.
