The red-tailed black cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus banksii) is a very impressive large predominantly black bird with vivid red/orange tail feathers. These birds are native to Australia. We are very lucky to occasionally sight them in our area. They fly in flocks and can be spotted at the top of tall eucalyptus trees. These birds are now under threat due to habitat loss.

I chose to paint them in oils on stretched canvas.
