Pollyanna Wins AAA Gold Medal for ‘Best in Show’

Pollyanna is honoured and delighted to have been given the Gold Medal for the Best Painting in Show at the Association of Animal Artists Annual Exhibition for her study of a Jacob’s Ram.

The painting was selected from hundreds or works on exhibition at the Castle Park Arts Centre in Frodsham, Cheshire, submitted by artists from throughout the UK and around the world.

Pollyanna is shortlisted for Landscape Painter of the Year!

Pollyanna is delighted to have made the final shortlist of 12 artists for the ‘Landscape Painter of the Year’ for her painting ‘By The Light of the Silvery Moon’! Towards the end of 2016 Derbyshire Life launched a search to find the region’s most talented artists. Pollyanna is especially pleased to have been shortlisted despite the fact that she is of course primarily a wildlife artist!!

Pollyanna Returns from Australia – the Final Continent!

In December 2016 Pollyanna stepped off a plane on to Australian soil – and in doing so successfully completed an incredible quest – to be one of the few artists who have painted on all seven continents. Driven by the beauty and intricacy of the wilderness, she is renowned for her travels into some of the most remote and inhospitable parts of the world, where she studies and paints endangered species in their increasingly fragile habitats.

Pollyanna joins Princess Michael of Kent for Cheetah Event

Pollyanna was honoured to be invited to join HRH Princess Michael of Kent – who is a huge cheetah lover – at a gala fundraising event for the Cheetah Conservation Fund.  They are pictured above with award winning photographer Angie Scott (centre).

Polyanna Pickering Foundation Builds New Aviaries for Raptor Trust

The Pollyanna Pickering Foundation’s primary fundraising campaign in 2016 contributed £12500.00 to build lion proof cattle pens in the Masai Mara to mark Born Free’s Year of the Lion.

Our other major project for the year was to build a large size exercise and rehabilitation aviary and new hospital units at Raptor Trust UK in Norfolk.  Because the trust were able to secure volunteer labour to construct the aviary and units, the Foundation was able to maximise the value of the £3000.00 needed to purchase materials.

Pollyanna’s Create & Craft TV Anniversary

Pollyanna filmed another 27 live shows for Create and Craft TV  during 2016 – and in August celebrated her third anniversary of filming on the channel!  Crafter Louise Mayo made an amazing celebration chocolate cake to mark the occasion – and Pollyanna was joined by demonstrator Lynda Chapman and presenter Dean Wilson to cut the cake live on air!  Dean hosted Pollyanna’s first ever show on the channel – and also stars with Pollyanna in their infamous ‘Strictly come Dancing’ clip which has featured twice on ‘It’ll be

Pollyanna is delighted to have accepted the role of Patron to National Charity WildAid.

Pollyanna Hunts for a Bargain on the BBC

Pollyanna could be seen bidding during an episode of BBC1’s popular show Bargain Hunt in June! The programme features teams of amateur collectors who have an hour at an antiques fair in which to acquire the best bargains possible with £300.  Their purchases are then sent to auction, and the team who makes the biggest profit (or more frequently the least loss!) wins.

Pollyanna Honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

Peak FM’s annual awards celebrate and recognise the amazing achievements of people across Derbyshire who in some way have made a difference to their local community, shown courage, bravery and helped make the lives of others that little bit better.

Pollyanna was  honoured to be presented with their Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her work in both Art and Conservation. She is shown here with her award, and event hosts Stu & Cat from the Peak FM breakfast show.

Pollyanna Wins Association of Animal Artists Inaugural Chariman’s Award

Passionate about wildlife and equally passionate about accurately interpreting her subjects, Pollyanna has dedicated her life to conservation through art.

And now she is honoured to have received the Association of Animal Artists most prestigious award, which was presented at their Annual Gala Dinner in March this year. The Inaugural Chairman’s Award is presented to the artist who is considered to have most significantly raised the profile of wildlife art in the last twelve months.

Pollyanna Pickering to Host Born Free Year of the Lion Event

On the 50th anniversary of the release of the iconic, award-winning motion picture Born Free, the Born Free Foundation have declared 2016 to be The Year of the Lion. This Year of action and celebration will honour the 50th anniversary of the film Born Free and the Foundation’s critical work to protect lions globally.
