Mother Knows Best
Elephants are magnificent creatures. They are extraordinarily intelligent, and have the ability to communicate through noise, body language, and touch. Poachers are killing both African and Asian elephants for their ivory, despite them being an endangered species. There are fewer than 40,000 Asian elephants left. On top of this, they are being cruelly treated and exploited for tourist rides.
Researchers have found that elephants express a wide range of emotions, from joy and love to fear and sadness. When elephants are happy to be reunited with loved ones, they dash forward while trumpeting. But when an elephant loses a family member, it faces immense grief. The elephant memorizes the very spot at which its loved one died and mourns each time it passes by for years.
100% of proceeds will be going to Save Elephant Foundation in my solo exhibition later in the year.
