In Safe Hands - Sketch
From a visit to Taronga zoo in Sydney I sketched a mother chimpanzee cradling her baby in one hand.
The origianl drawing raised 90 pounds in an online auction for Sketch for Survival 2018 campaign. Sketch for Survival is a major exhibition of wildlife art in conjunction with Exploreres Against Extinction. It is currently estimated that 55 elephants per day are killed for their ivory, that's one every 26 minutes. Sketch for Survival is all about raising awareness of these shocking statistics, while also raising significant funds to fight wildlife crime.
Artists, illustrators, cartoonists and celebrities were invitted to spend this 26 minutes on a sketch of any endangered species. All these sketches and other donated artworks will then be displayed on a national gallery tour of England in October, 2018 and three days in New York, USA in November 2018.
