You know how everyone has some project that is a constant challenge, that doesn't get done or doesn't get done right? Whether its writing a book or doing your taxes or potting a new plant or finishing a new whatever. Well, this female mountain lion is that challenge for me. I thought I had finished it but did not care for the monochromatic look. So went in and redid the background. Looked at some old wildlife masters. Am still working on it. So stay tuned for the results. See how it turns out. Feel free to email ideas or suggestions. And by all means check back for...

Current Works in Progress:May 12, 2020Working Title: "Head’s Up" (River Otters)It was a beautiful day in May, I was out photographing and came upon this lovely pair of River Otters playing at the edge of the river, darting in and out of the water – the sun on their fur was just wonderful. I knew that I would enjoy painting them.At the beginning stages it is just getting the animals positioned and making decisions on colouring etc. Okay – decided that I didn’t like where the back otter was sitting. I thought it would look a lot better if the...

Its not every day that ones gets to tick off the old bucket list!I had the good fortune of receiving an official invitation to attend the 2019 Roots and Shoots & Roots Awards event in London, UK in March last year.I was beyond thrilled and couldn't wait to meet this iconic Dr Jane Goodall in person.I managed to get a flight on the new Dreamliner non stop flight from Perth, Western Australia to Heathrow airport. Flying for just over 16 hours non stop one way was quite an experience in itself. The event was held from 10am - 4pm and I was beyond excited. I was invited by one of the...

Canyon Above Rio GrandeIn the fall of 2019, we hiked along the Hot Springs Canyon above the Rio Grande where I painted an oval plein air. I sat in the sun on a rock with the canvas balanced on my knees painting for about two hours. It was all completed on sight, including the wispy clouds in the blue sky. It was a perfect day with a cool breeze, multiple tiny yellow flowers blooming in the desert, and total seclusion except the wasps buzzing about. Being lost in the intricacies of painting and contemplating the endless complexities of nature was a gift to me.Later, my wife and I attended a...

If you can visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Rescue Center on Jekyll Island, GA, I would highly recommend it. There is a turtle "hospital" where you can see turtles being cared for with the goal of releasing them back into the wild upon recovery. These people are heroic! When a hurricane threatened the coast, the staff loaded up the turtle patients and drove the. To other facilities for safety. It has been an honor for me to have the facility carry my turtle themed artwork and the center is one of my favorite conservation...
