Woolly mammoths (Mammuthus primigenius), like other megaherbivores during the Weichselian glaciation of the late Ice Age, probably undertook seasonal migrations to supply their herds with enough forage to sustain them during the harsh winters. Once having found a likely area for grazing, they used their long, curved tusks to sweep snow away from the underlying grasses and forbs that formed much of their diet.
