Deborah LaFogg Docherty
Deborah LaFogg Docherty’s art combines her great two loves: her love of nature and her love of painting. She has been studying wildlife in it's natural habitat since she was a child on her family’s farm in Connecticut. Her paintings strive to give people a glimpse of how animals live in the wild. Deborah’s quest to paint wildlife has taken her across the United States and has become an adventure she loves to share. More about Deborah LaFogg Docherty |

Shawna Lampi-Legaree
I hope that my art work reflects my love of the beauty of natural world both wild and cultivated. With so many people disconnected from nature, my small aim is to bring awareness of the amazing birds and flowers that surround our homes and forests. Kids so rarely can go out their door and play in the bush like my kids did when they were growing up in the 80s and 90s. Parental fear and, often time, the actual physical distance to nature plays a pivotal role in the disconnection our children... More about Shawna Lampi-Legaree |

Dr. Latas has been dedicated to conservation in both artistic and scientific endeavors for more than 40 years. Sandi Lear
Using allegory to draw a corollary between the subject and the human condition, often depicting endangered species and the ocean, I strive to capture the essence of the subject with exquisite focus, leaving the remainder in semi-abstracted form. The subject must be soulful, I work spontaneously, provoking an emotion, a connection with the viewer without necessarily telling the whole story - the viewer is invited to explore their memory or emotional connection to the work. The process of... More about Sandi Lear |

Johanna Lerwick
"My love and passion for wildlife has led to my journey of painting, to me, they go hand in hand. When I create a painting, it is more than paint on a brush, it is bringing an animal or scene to life. With my brushes and hues I capture moments in time, instants and exact feelings. When a wolf is caught in the element of surprise or a deer is caught off guard, these are precise moments I bring to life." More about Johanna Lerwick |

Laura Levitsky
Art is where I go to explore and express. I get lost in it. It is the only thing I seem to have an infinite patience for as I can sit for hours and meticulously paint every hair of lichen growing on a tree. For me, it is important to include the smallest of pixie-up lichen or the damselfly resting on a blade of grass as I feel it assists in capturing the whole story and hopefully exposes it to the viewer as an important part of the whole picture, not just in the painting, but in nature itself... Patsy Lindamood
Most of my pieces are representational, rendered in exhaustive detail. A self-taught artist, marked by strong, colorful, yet infinitely detailed compositions. In addition to the wildlife pieces based on my own research photography, I have also completed a number of pet and human portraits. I hike nature preserves and national parks to observe, study the behavior of, and photographically record wildlife in their natural environments, then develop my paintings in the studio from my photos.... Patricia Mansell
I never made a conscious decision to be an animal artist, but every time I sat down to start a new painting I was always drawn to portray animals – I think they chose me, not the over way around. My journey through painting is a constant learning process, adding to and building my knowledge by exploring new techniques. I try to raise the bar on each new painting but want the focus to be on the character of the animal rather than just anatomical details. One of the strengths of wildlife art is... Chris Maynard
I carve feathers into intricate art. I strive to foster appreciation and understanding of the natural world. I do this by presenting feathers and themes associated with feathers in new ways. Feathers hold important meanings for all ages and cultures. I think this is because birds fly and we cannot; so we dream. In this way, feathers become symbols associated with hope, transformation and escape from our circumstances. Feathers appear delicate but are not. They are made of the toughest of... Anita McComas
“My art is about connecting... connecting to things that make you feel. I celebrate expression and emotion through a loose, gestural style, that is both complex and simplified” Let’s connect. My work is a compilation of seemingly random strokes, weaving into something that exists in our world. It is a creation out of nothing, gestural strokes, marks on a canvas. I have recently discovered that while we have the capability to re-make ourselves for all outward appearances, our artistic... More about Anita McComas |

I feel blessed to be able to use paint to share magical moments of time I have experienced. I strive for my images to inspire the viewer to become part of conservation movements saving these wonderful animals and the beautiful world in which we all coexist. I chose the studio name of Vanishing Visions to showcase the moments of time captured in each image that were gone in the next instant and to remind everyone that if we do not make a change in our development of land and utilization of... Candy McManiman
Often when I am traveling and birding, you do not have time for sketching but my camera is always with me. This shot captures a jaguar just before the sun set. She was stalking the Cuiaba River near Porto Jofre at the end of Transpantaneira Highway, Brazil. In recent years it has become a place where you might expect to see a Jaguar. Travelling down the Highway which is a dirt road with over 75 rickety bridges is part of the adventure to get to the river. The Pantanal is a marvelouse place also... More about Candy McManiman |

Kelly McNeil
I believe that when an artist paints, we don’t paint what we see in front of us, we paint our feelings, which are created by what we are seeing. I like to capture the life, the vitality and the warmth of my subjects, whether it’s a wolf sunning in the forest light, or a swan back-lit on lake casting abstract reflection for me to paint. I really feel that I have succeeded when someone looks at one of my paintings and can’t help but smile. More about Kelly McNeil |

Mary Louise O'Sullivan
I think one of the first hard choices we have to make when we start our painting lives is to decide what to paint. I went from people to cities to trees - loved to do it all. But something finally comes to you and becomes more and more of a challenge, and that attraction for me was to paint the patterns and color nuances of water. And with that in mind there are a thousand more ways of doing it so one doesn't have to get bored. I've painted barnacles, lilies, old rowboats, foxes drinking, birds... Jim Pescott
Trees always inspire me. For many, many years, there’s been nothing more satisfying for me than a walk in the woods to soothe my being. It’s about connecting with nature, the feelings this brings and sensing the spirit within the trees. I’ve felt this since my early years. Trees always inspire me. As a visual artist, “feeling inspired by trees” is my go to theme. Trees share so much with me and all this finds expression in my paintings. So many of my canvases include trees and my pointillist... More about Jim Pescott |

Observing birds and their habits is a way to discover more about their nature – the motions a Sandhill Crane makes during preening, the way a Golden Eagle walks along the ground. Each of these actions means something for the bird and it is these behaviors and their meanings that I want to convey to the viewer. More about Anne Peyton |

Pat Riggs
I paint what I love, it is that simple. My greatest love is animals, especially wild ones. I work with acrylics and oil paint in high detail realism to share the beauty I see. As I approach a new painting I think of what I want to express in the subject. Then I start by putting down a raw umber wash working in the lights, darks, and dimensions. Varnish coats are worked in between the layers of paint during the early stage of the painting. The finishing touches are done with dry brush... More about Pat Riggs |

Laurie Riley
In the wild, animals are elusive, and often seen only briefly. To bring a true appreciation of their personalities to the viewer, I feel that every pose and expression must be real, without added sentimentality or idealism. I strive to give the viewer an awareness that every creature is sentient, to inspire the viewer to support the preservation of wildlife and habitat and the right of every wild-born animal to roam free. Viewers, many of whom may not have the opportunity to see these animals... More about Laurie Riley |

William Ritchie
In all my works I aim for a sense of realism and expression that captures the subject matter as it was when I experienced it. I try to replicate the feeling imparted through the experience as it appealed to me, whether that be simplistic or complex. I find Nature has so much to offer and unfortunately, more often than not, these offerings go unacknowledged, taken for granted, or are simply not understood. I feel that through traditional tonal realism painting and realist art, there is... More about William Ritchie |
