Blending the graceful forms of both the medium and the subject is the technique used for this creation, a California Sea Lion emerging from a rock-like burl formation of Oregon Myrtlewood salvaged from Coast Range mountains.. My inspiration comes from many hours at nearby Pacific Ocean reefs where sea lions gather in large numbers, perching on ledges, clambering about the rocks, and surfing in the waves.
