Wall color:
The Red-tailed Hawk takes up residence in every province and territory in Canada. They thrive in country, woods, prairie, mountains, plains, and cities. They are widespread and their numbers stable, or still increasing. Their red tail in the evening light illuminates like flames. I love to paint the drama in these majestic birds.
Although the red tailed hawk is beautiful in its tail colours, I strive to photograph the raptor in either sunset or dawn. With this dramatic lighting the tail has fire colours and the body is much more rich in its browns yellows and reds. This painting was photographed at sunset in front of a dark forest canopy. That sets off the dramatic values and colours amazingly.
