While Myrtle Yellow-rumped Warblers are not an endangered species (status is secure), warbler populations have been more greatly affected in recent years by window strikes, particularly during migration, when increasing numbers of birds have perished after colliding with windows of high-rise buildings. The introduction of programs to reduce electricity by dimming building lighting during migratory periods conserves energy and reduces bird strikes.
