The Canada Goose has been abundant in most places where I’ve lived and I have always loved their grace and beauty. I spotted this couple at the George C. Reifel Bird Sanctuary and fell in love with their composure….the male keeping an eye out for danger while his expecting mate sleeps comfortably. Wetlands have always attracted me with what seems to be an unlimited variety of plants and animals to see. Because of the biodiversity, I find the textures of the ever-changing landscape presents numerous approaches to paint one single subject, and the colors are always rich regardless of the season. My love for detail goes hand in hand with my goal to inspire those who look at my work to see more in the world around them. A common sight along these shorelines is the abundant Canada Goose. The goose population today is the result of a successful wildlife protection program that revitalized declining numbers in the beginning of the 20th century. They are a reminder of the importance of conservation efforts needed to preserve ecosystems on our planet, not just for sustainability of plants and wildlife, but because it is vital for human survival.
