Each spring, a large number of moose move in and around the lower Kawuneeche Valley between Rocky Mountain National Park and The Arapaho National Forest as the snow from higher elevations melts off and the valley begins to turn green from the bottom up. I see them daily from the front porch of the family cabin. I am always struck by the majesty of these magnificent animals. Rather than uniting the sculpture, I created it to be separated onto two nested bases to more accurately represent their natural behavior. Moose are not herd animals, and other than the very strong bond between cow and calf, you will not likely see a familial gathering such as this.
